Rick Giammarino. P.Eng, President

After receiving his B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alberta in 1984, and a Diploma in Petroleum Technology from S.A.I.T. in 1980, Rick went on to become the Plant Engineer at the Minnihik Buck Lake Sour Gas Plant, and was later the Manager of Operations and Facilities at Newport Petroleum. He has a total of 29 years experience in the Western Canadian sedimentary basin, of which 20 years were spent working for various oil production companies. Since 1999, Rick has worked as President and founder of GRB Engineering. Rick remains deeply involved with the day to day operations of GRB and provides process and project guidance when needed.

Steve Huitema, P.Eng., General Manager

Steve received his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary in 1990. This is Steve’s second career after earning his credentials as a finishing carpenter. Before entering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management industry, he enjoyed a brief career as a Heavy Lift and Rigging Engineer. Steve became well versed in compression through his time at Enerflex prior to joining a mid-sized engineering company where he advanced from Project Engineering into Project Management in a variety of projects from gas gathering, to sour compression and gas plants for a variety of clients. He eventually moved into management becoming the Engineering Manager and General Manager. Steve Joined GRB in August 2010 as the General Manager and is responsible for the day to day operations of the organization, business development, and shares the overall management of the company.

Jeff Shugg, Engineering Group Lead

Jeff has a Diploma in Welding Engineering (1985) and a Certificate in Process Piping Drafting (1986). Jeff has 24 years of industry experience and has been with GRB Engineering Ltd. for 11 years.  Jeff’s experience extends both as a draftsperson and a Project Manager.  As a Project Manager, he has provided quality project management and coordination while overseeing a variety of Compressor Station and Gas Gathering System projects ranging from $1.7M to $70M

Chad Heslip, C.E.T., Engineering Group Lead

After graduating from S.A.I.T. in 2000 Chad went on to gain hands-on field experience with Trican Well Servicing in Red Deer on a cement and acid truck for one year. He then moved into a Jr. Technologist role with GRB Engineering Ltd. where he has worked his way up to Sr. Technologist, Team Lead and now Group Lead working for several small to large clients on varying oil and gas projects.

Mehdi Shariat P.Eng., Engineering Group Lead

A post-graduate (Master’s) professional engineer with over 38 years EPCM experience, 24 of which have been in both International and Canadian Oil and Gas.  Mehdi has worked on a variety of different types of engineering projects in a number of different places around the world. He is thoroughly familiar with all aspects of major and minor projects, from preliminary to detailed engineering, procurement and construction management; this includes project control techniques such as scheduling, estimating and cost control. Throughout his career, he has continually demonstrated a strong knowledge base and good team leadership skills.

John Wiseman, P. Eng, Electrical and Instrumentation Group Lead

An Electrical/Controls/Instrument Engineer with 24 years of experience related to the Oil & Gas Industry.  His well-rounded experience includes Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation Design, Project Management, PLC/HMI Programming, Field Inspection and Commissioning of Oil & Gas Facilities.  He has been involved in the design and installation of over 1,000,000 hp of natural gas compression.

Addy Intveld, C.E.T., Design Group Lead

A versatile, self-motivated drafting technology professional who is well versed in the synergies of EPCM and corporate in-house drafting environments.   Addy has over 35 years of oil and gas industry experience including expertise in: CAD management and CAD network administration, quality management systems, facility piping design, pipeline systems and Emergency Response Plan mapping, pipeline route alignment sheets, application software evaluation, development and integration, business graphics, digital imaging and visual communication.
